How ECU remapping works on a petrol Skoda Octavia

With a petrol engine the remap works through the ECU's ignition, fuelling and turbo boost tables. Re-calibrating them within safe limits releases power that is already there, rather than adding anything to the engine.

How the Skoda Octavia 1.6 compares

Ranked by power gain against the other petrol Octavia engines (12 in total), the 1.6 is 9th, 9 bhp below the Octavia petrol average of 25 bhp.

Across our whole catalogue the average petrol remap adds 27 bhp and 51 Nm, so this engine's 16 bhp and 33 Nm sits below that benchmark.
